Active Hands Kayak Hand & Wrist Adaptations

The Active Hands Kayak Hand & Wrist Adaptations are designed to help people with reduced hand function grip and control a kayak paddle.

Two different adaptations are available depending on your level of hand function. They can be used individually or in combination to provide additional support while paddling.

Kayak Hand Adaptation

The Hand Adaptation is designed for people who can grip the paddle shaft but need additional support to maintain their grip.

Positioned over the back of the hand, the adaptation helps transfer some of the lifting load away from the fingers and through the arm. The height can be adjusted to suit the user, while the open-ended design provides support without preventing the hand from releasing from the paddle when required.

Available in left-hand and right-hand versions.

Kayak Wrist Adaptation

The Wrist Adaptation is designed for people who are unable to independently grasp or maintain a grip on the paddle shaft.

The two-part system consists of a wristband worn by the user and an attachment fitted to the paddle shaft. The wristband slides into the paddle attachment, helping the user apply power and control the rotation of the paddle without needing to maintain a conventional hand grip.

The connection is designed to release by sliding the hand out of the attachment when required.

Available in left-wrist and right-wrist versions.

Using the Adaptations Together

The Hand and Wrist Adaptations can also be combined where additional support is required.

A Hand Adaptation can be used together with a Wrist Adaptation to provide additional support where the user can position their fingers around the paddle but has difficulty maintaining their grip.

Two Hand Adaptations can also be used together, with one supporting the back of the hand and another helping support the fingers around the paddle.
