How to Choose the Correct Size

Usually the size of the pushrim covers corresponds to the size of your tyres. If you have 24-inch tyres, you will most likely need 24-inch pushrim covers. Rarely, some wheelchair manufacturers may use unusual sizes. If you’re unsure, measure the diameter of your pushrims and use the size chart below.

Your tyre size and ETRTO marking are usually printed on the tyre sidewall.

Example: If your tyre shows 25-540 (common 24" wheelchair tyre), choose 24-inch pushrim covers.

Pushrim Diameter Reference and Size Guide

Pushrim covers are sized to suit the pushrim diameter. Pushrims are typically smaller than the wheel/tyre size. The table below shows the typical pushrim diameter for each wheel size, along with common ETRTO markings you may see on the tyre sidewall.

Wheel (Tyre) Size Common Tyre ETRTO (Sidewall) Typical Pushrim Diameter
22 inch e.g. 25-501 ~470 mm (18.5")
24 inch e.g. 25-540, 37-540 ~520 mm (20.5")
25 inch e.g. 25-559 ~545–550 mm (~21.5")

Note: ETRTO numbers (such as 25-540) refer to the tyre size standard (width – bead seat diameter), not the pushrim. Pushrim sizes vary slightly by wheel and brand, so the pushrim diameters above are typical.

Installation Tip

These covers are intentionally tight to ensure a secure fit. For easier installation, use a small amount of water and stretch evenly around the rim. Taking your time helps prevent twisting and ensures a smooth finish.

Why Aussies Love Them

  • Better grip in wet weather (ideal for Australian conditions)
